Tom Ellison became a residential support worker in 1993 when he took up his first role in a specialist unit for young people with diagnosed mental health conditions.

Tom continued to work for third sector organisations throughout the nineties specialising in therapeutic work for young people, in particular, with issues arising from early years trauma. Tom accepted his first role as a Director in 2004 when he moved to SACCS, an organisation delivering residential treatment to young people suffering the effects of severe sexual abuse.

Tom went on to leadership roles in a number of private sector organisations where he developed a reputation for improving failing services and developing innovative clinical practice models.

For the past eight years Tom has led Young Foundations, a national organisation delivering residential care, education and clinical support for young people leaving Tier 4 CAMHS care. Under Tom’s leadership, Young Foundations has doubled in size and in 2018 received the prestigious Laing Buisson Award for Innovation for the company's pioneering hybrid clinical/social care model. Young Foundations went on to win the Laing Buisson Children’s Services Award in 2020 for excellence in children’s residential care.

Tom holds undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in psychology and post graduate qualifications in both Management Studies and Strategic Management.
